If you’re reading this it’s because you’re interested in having a professional prepare your taxes for you. Maybe you’re dissatisfied with your current preparer or maybe you’ve done them yourself in the past but just don’t feel confident doing them anymore. Or maybe you just don’t like to do them!
Why should you hire a CPA to prepare your taxes, and why should that CPA be me?
- Unlike many other tax preparation services our office is open 365 days per year (many of the “chain” preparers close their offices after April 15).
- CPAs are required to have 40 hours of continuing education every year, and many of those hours are in taxes. Congress has mandated a new “designation” for prepares – the “RTRP” designation (registered tax return preparer) – but CPAs are exempted from the new requirements because our education and training requirements go beyond the new designation’s requirements.
- I prepare tax returns for many people that live in states other than Michigan – so much can be done electronically, whether that’s via email, internet portals, dropbox or our firm’s website (www.vmde.com). So whether you live a mile away from our office or whether you live in California, I can use various types of technology to make the process as easy as possible.
- Last reason I’ll give here – while I certainly don’t claim to know everything about every financial issue, I think many of my clients appreciate the unbiased opinions I can give them on matters pertaining to their financial life. I’m the person they can bounce ideas off of and I can usually point them in the right direction.
