I graduated from Calvin College in 1984 and received my CPA certification in 1986. I have clients in both the service and retail sectors. I especially enjoy working with clients in developing computerized accounting systems that best meet the financial reporting needs of their business, as well as working with the owners in the tax and financial planning areas.Before becoming a partner at VMDE (VanderLugt, Mulder, DeVries & Elders) I worked for Byker, VanPopering & Bergsma (a Grandville CPA firm now known as The CPA Group), First Michigan Bank and a construction company.

I and my wife Marilyn live in Hudsonville and between the two of us we have four children. In my spare time I enjoy working in my yard and on my house and golfing (well, I usually enjoy golfing!). Marilyn and I also like to travel whether that’s somewhere in Michigan or, well, anywhere! She’s been more places than I have, so I have some catching up to do.
